Analytics Consultant

The Opportunity

As an Analytics Consultant you will be joining our Analytics department working remotely in Spain (or hybrid in Madrid). This role requires a high degree of proficiency in both Spanish and English and we would invite you to submit your application in English. 

You will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers (banks, payment processors) by providing consulting expertise on preventing fraud risk to our customers, by helping them to deploy machine learning models and financial fraud rules-based solutions that infer and predict individual customer behaviours in real-time. 

We are experiencing a continued period of great success winning big deals with customers in Latin America, as well as across the EMEA region. This has been a big factor in our decision to build an Analytics presence in Spain to support our customers. For this role you will be working with global customers that require periodic work outside of standard hours (evening work) and international travel around once a quarter. 

Day to Day

  • Provide analytic support and consultancy services to our customers (banks, payments processors) to deliver end-to-end analytics for fraud detection 
  • Review and lockdown project scope by understanding analytical requirements, identifying any misalignment with statements of work 
  • Educate customers on the ARIC platform and our analytical solutions. ARIC is our fraud detection platform, that can be deployed in the cloud (SaaS) or on premises. 
  • Become an expert in customer data structures and processes; ensure its quality, liaise with internal development teams as required 
  • Understand common data issues and work with customers to resolve these efficiently 
  • Apply an understanding of the capabilities of the ARIC product and solutions in the analytics space 
  • Support customer Data Science and Analytics groups with their machine learning model development and deployment in the ARIC platform 
  • Produce materials to feedback analytic results to customers (reports, presentations, visualisations) and influence the customer decisions to optimise the outcome 
  • Work with customer QA teams to advise on effective analytical testing and supporting test phases 
  • Become expert in our rules-programming language to assist customers 
  • Develop knowledge of fraud and AML to guide customers in implementing fraud detection strategy 
  • Evaluate the analytical results on live systems and work with customers to suggest opportunities for improvement where possible

About you

Must haves

  • Degree in a scientific or numerate discipline, e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering 
  • Strong, clear, concise written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Great client facing skills, able to communicate complex analytical concepts to a variety of audiences, especially in a data science context. e.g., the application of practical machine learning algorithms to real-world data.  
  • Problem solving skills (especially in data-centric applications) 
  • Technical and analytical skills with the ability and enthusiasm to pick up and understand new technologies, concepts and complex systems quickly 
  • Experience working with customers to gather complex sets of requirements 
  • Experience in stakeholder management and managing customer expectations and common challenges 
  • Working knowledge of Python and experience writing SQL queries 
  • Experience in requirements management, business analysis, consulting environment is a plus 

Great to haves

  • Knowledge of fundamental machine learning concepts (feature engineering, algorithms, model evaluation, model bias) 
  • Experience developing statistical models and analytical algorithms 
  • Practical experience of the handling and mining of large, diverse, data sets 
  • Industry experience in financial services, particularly fraud and fraud strategy
  • Basic knowledge of event-driven systems and distributed computing for stateful systems 
  • Familiarity with software engineering practices, version control (e.g., git…)
