Associate General Counsel

The Opportunity

Featurespace are experiencing phenomenal growth, being named in the Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50, and experiencing over 600% growth during a four-year period. We are looking for an Attorney to help support us, working with our Chief Legal Officer on a daily basis to deliver best-in-class legal support for Featurespace. With offices in Cambridge, London, Atlanta, Singapore, and Israel, there’s a great deal of diversity in law and hours for support. We need attorneys that can work for hours other than US Eastern Standard time, and are willing to work on transactions and laws across the world, with assistance for knowledgeable colleagues and outside counsel.

As an Associate General Counsel for Featurespace, you’ll work on the some of the most innovative and interesting artificial intelligence, machine learning, and financial technology transactions in the world. Our company invented Adaptive Behavioral Analytics and Deep Behavioral Analytics, and you’ll help us to negotiate and deliver those innovations to some of the largest banking and payments companies in the world. You’re of course going to be incredibly clever and brilliant, but what sets this job apart is the kindness, generosity, and joy of helping others in the company, and making a true difference by preventing money laundering and stopping identify theft and fraudulent transactions. You’ll create the contracts that, when used by our customers, make the world a better place. We’ll challenge you to think big and differently, to look at case law as much as clauses, and to focus on what the business drivers and risks are that have created the need for an agreement.

You’ll collaborate with colleagues across all functions and time zones. We use some of the best artificial intelligence tools to help our legal practice, along with first rate legal operations software. We believe that all legal issues are business issues and you’ll gain first-hand knowledge of our business so that you can advise our non-legal colleagues on matters that make a difference to our customers and stakeholders.

What doesn’t show up on job postings is what makes this role spectacular; that you’ll be working with kind, truthful, smart people on some of the most fascinating and complex machine learning agreements and IP, enabling those same people by advising HR, helping to safely navigate regulations and risk for a multi-national company, with full fridges! We’ll laugh and celebrate our interests and those of our colleagues; whether it’s hiking, board games, or whatever slack channel interest is out there. Whilst we are serious about continuing Featurespace’s success, we don’t take ourselves too seriously, and are gracious in our treatment of others. The work will be engaging and intense, with the highest expectations of quality of work and advice mixed with the understanding we are all just humans trying our best. We’ll examine case law and contract clauses thoughtfully, collaborate each day, and when we are really good at what we do, we will continue to have more work than we have time.

Day to Day

What you’ll do as Associate General Counsel:

  • You’ll negotiate, review, and draft a wide variety of agreements supporting Featurespace’s expanding range of Risk, Fraud, and AML products, working with clients and Legal colleagues throughout EMEA, the Americas, and APAC
  • You will be highly-organized, calm, kind, communicative, and pay close attention to detail
  • You will also demonstrate and improve your understanding of Featurespace business and the ability to think quickly and practically
  • Develop expertise with Featurespace products, relating and building positive relationships with business clients in our various EMEA, Americas, and APAC offices
  • Advise senior management, business clients and Featurespace teams on various aspects of US, English, and Commonwealth law, with assistance from outside counsel where appropriate
  • Advise on legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures, and company policies
