CloudOps Lead

The Opportunity

Featurespace are looking for a CloudOps Team Lead to lead the team responsible for the operation of the Featurespace Cloud-based ARIC solution, to be based in our Cambridge office.

In this position, you will take on new initiatives to run, enhance, and scale our infrastructure in a fast-growing business.

The ideal candidate needs to be experienced enough to lead a technical team and technical enough to be hands-on with the technology stack, to be able to solve complex complications or develop innovative ways to solve technical problems.

Day to Day

 

  • Build, deploy, and manage customer-facing infrastructure and services
  • Design infrastructure with security as a key objective, and work to improve security of existing services
  • Ensure appropriate availability, reliability, and recoverability of services
  • Optimise workflows through automation
  • Seek efficiencies through tracking and management of costs
  • Work closely with the Cybersecurity team to implement all required technology, systems, processes
  • Write and maintain clear and concise documentation, runbooks, and operational standards including infrastructure diagrams
  • Test data backup and recovery and disaster recovery procedures

About you

We are looking for people with the following:

  • Strong experience providing hands-on technical expertise designing, deploying, securing, and optimising cloud-based services in a production setting
  • Practical knowledge of cloud infrastructure principles (load balancing, high availability, AMI customisation, access control and routing) on AWS
  • Strong reporting expertise in AWS billing
  • Expertise in Python development using BOTO and various APIs
  • Experience leading and inspiring a team environment with a culture of open communication and collaboration
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and SaltStack
  • Ability to adapt and stretch to meet the business needs of a fast-growing technology company
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and able to articulate complex problems clearly and concisely
  • Keen to investigate new tools and approaches to solving long standing and new issues

 

Good to haves include:

  • Experience collaborating with cyber security teams to implement all required technology, systems, and processes to maintain security standards
  • Service management experience such as providing metrics, analytics, reporting, and incident management
  • Experience delivering services and resources reliably and without downtime
  • Experience securing connectivity between, into, and out of cloud services
  • Experience of source code management with tools such as Git or Gitlab
  • Enjoy working with a large variety of services and technologies
  • Happy working as a team to solve problems collaboratively enabling knowledge sharing and personal development
  • Awareness of other cloud services such as Azure/GCP
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following security standards PCI-DSS, SOC2 or ISO27001:2013

 

Nice to haves include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Business / Computer Science preferred) or equivalent experience – AWS Sysop/Developer/Solution architect associate/professional desired
  • Knowledge of common patterns to host applications (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Knowledge of secrets management preferably with Hashicorp vault
