In your role as an Engineer, you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by:

  • Developing the frontend of tools that the team produces, adding new features to existing products. Working very closely with the UX team to deliver the best customer experience possible.

Day to Day

  • Championing great user experience, accessibility, and performance throughout all of our UIs.
  • Developing UI features in an efficient and repeatable manner
  • Looking after the necessary toolset to efficiently maintain and test the UI component libraries.
  • Identifying and resolving issues/bugs
  • Working closely with the team’s Java engineers to agree on the API for delivering content/functionality to the users
  • Working closely with UX designers to build the best customer experience.
  • Participating in user tests

About you

Must haves

  • Good JavaScript knowledge
  • Comfortable with CSS/SasS
  • Familiar with React
  • Good knowledge of OO principles, separation of concern
  • Self-motivated and eager to tackle complex problems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise your own workload
  • Good working knowledge of modern source control systems
  • Comfortable working with large codebases
  • Comfortable with code reviews
  • Knowledge of API best practices
  • Being comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional team

Great to haves

  • Experience of TypeScript, Node.js, Webpack
  • Experience using a design tool such as Figma
  • Cloud platforms and automation
  • TDD
  • Previous exposure to usability testing procedures
  • Enjoys being an active contributor outside of their primary area of expertise
  • Ability to contribute to technical requirements interpretation for the purposes of project scoping, planning and other maintenance activities
