Head of Implementation Engineering - EMEA

The Opportunity

In your role as  Head of Implementation Engineering – EMEA you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by: 

  • Supporting, mentoring, and training your team members to enable them to do excellent work. It is as much about creating a happy, healthy, world-class Implementation team as it is about the outcomes of the customer implementations themselves.
  • Establishing strong relationships with the leads for other regions to ensure knowledge travels effectively and consistently across the entire team
  • Influencing Product and Engineering teams to improve the deliverability of our solutions

Implementation Engineers at Featurespace are responsible for configuring deploying and integrating our award-winning ARIC platform to protect our customers from fraud and financial crime. 

For this role we are happy to consider remote working, but need a willingness to travel Cambridge when required.

Day to Day

  • Line managing Implementation Engineering teams in EMEA, including performance, mentoring, training, recruitment and personal development
  • Focusing on welfare and support of individual team members: encouraging good work-life balance, managing stress and health, team social activities and general fun! 
  • Supporting Implementation Engineers with customer communication – e.g. technical escalation meetings
  • Driving for ARIC to be developed in a way that is conscious of delivery – reviewing new features and technology changes and engaging with how we can best deliver these to our customers
  • Advocating for standardisation where possible and configuration over customisation
  • Working closely with the Head of Implementation to continuously improve the Implementation function in Featurespace, identifying and resolving issues, process bottlenecks, tooling requirements, training / knowledge gaps and documentation improvements
  • Inspiring the team to work to collectively improve the delivery process from both customer satisfaction and efficiency perspectives
  • Encouraging good development practices and code quality, in areas such as test-driven development, good quality documentation and test automation
  • Performing technical reviews of work done in the team, to ensure best practice has been followed throughout
  • Supporting Commercial teams by producing and reviewing effort estimates for work to be done within Implementation

About you

Must haves

  • Experience operating in a high-growth environment
  • Experience of managing teams of 10-15 people – covering both operational aspects and line management
  • Extensive experience in a Technical Ops/Integration role in the tech industry
  • Strong communication skills, being well versed in managing internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience influencing change in other areas of a business

Great to haves

  • Awareness of open-source technologies e.g. Apache Kafka, MongoDB, Elasticsearch
  • Experience of deploying and maintaining containerised solutions
  • Experience with source control (e.g. Gitlab), Continuous Integration frameworks (e.g. TeamCity). test-driven development and delivering production-quality code in a Linux environment
  • Hands-on experience with deploying complex software solutions both on premise and in cloud-based environments (e.g. AWS)
  • Experience working within financial services
