Junior Product Designer

The Opportunity

Featurespace’s Product team is growing fast, and we are now on the lookout for a Junior Product Designer to join the Design faction of the team, in our Cambridge office.

As a Junior Product Designer at Featurespace, you’ll be helping us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by using and growing your knowledge of UX methods to advance designs that translate world-leading machine learning technologies into award-winning products.

As a key member of the team, you will apply your energies and skills to help solve real-world design problems so our customers can meet the threat from digital fraudsters.

This is a junior product design role and, whilst experience working in software product design is desirable, we also welcome applications from talented and motivated graduates.

Day to Day

  • Acting as the user advocate you will ensure user needs are central in the Featurespace product process
  • Work with a senior team member to establish priority, fidelity and delivery of tasks
  • Take on design projects from start to finish, extracting insights from research and turning them into experiences that will provide a positive impact on the work of our users
  • Collect, reflect, and take action on feedback from stakeholder interactions, design validation sessions, and playbacks to support design decisions with qualified rationale
  • Negotiate and evolve your designs with more senior designers to explore possible solutions that will be upheld in the delivered product
  • Following the Featurespace design process and methods to uncover user and business requirements, whilst evaluating the effectiveness and adequacy of existing/proposed solutions
  • Understanding the design goals as they pertain to interaction patterns and visual language
  • Have an appreciation of end-to-end product design process and the role involved in it
  • Deliver high-quality UI designs that accomplish outcomes as defined by either the business or one of the more experienced designers
  • Understanding and applying the Featurespace brand as a communication path to our customers
  • Seeking out interactions with Product and Marketing teams and collaborating to elevate the overall visual design
  • Recognizing and resolving challenges with interaction patterns and visual design
  • Creating novel interactions to test hypotheses and quickly iterating to explore promising outcomes through artifacts such as journey maps, high & low fidelity mock-ups, prototypes and specifications
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the product design community; ensuring you stay current with modern tools used by Featurespace

About you

Must haves

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant design discipline (Masters or equivalent preferred) or hold the equivalent level of on the job experience
  • A portfolio that highlights a thorough understanding of the design process from UX research to visual design

Great to haves

  • Product design experience gained in a web/mobile enterprise development environment or similar
  • Knowledge of front-end development technologies, such as HTML, Java Script, and CSS, with an understanding of their capabilities and limitations
