Lead Site Reliability Engineer

The Opportunity

As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer, you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by being accountable for the output of the Cloud Operations team in the US, building and developing a culture of high performance, innovation, and a broad understanding of the business.

You will provide high impact contributions via the continuous improvements of our world leading SaaS product, ARIC Risk Hub. You will combine leadership with advanced technical knowledge to develop and deliver our SaaS offerings, while also understanding the perspective of internal and external stakeholders in order to influence external organisations.

This is a hybrid role based in the Atlanta office, so you will ideally be comfortable coming into the office 2-3 times a week. If you are interested in the role but require more flexibility, please speak to us!

Day to Day

As our Lead SRE, you will ideally be able to demonstrate and carry out a combination of Leadership, Management and Technical duties.

Leadership

  • Collaborate on Cloud Operations global strategy in line with company objectives and ensuring that strategy is carried out in your region
  • Manage a small team of Site Reliability Engineers, with the intention to grow this further over time
  • Articulate and convey a compelling vision to a broad audience; internal teams, customers, prospects and regulatory bodies
  • Think holistically about our products and processes, including commercial and compliance implications of decisions
  • Drive change in the organisation and influence other teams to improve overall performance
  • Build strong relationships with other leaders across the organisation

Management

  • Train and onboard new team members
  • Collaborate with leaders in the Cloud Operations team globally to create and maintain working practices, as well as maintain a framework of performance management and ensuring team members are assessed regularly
  • Create and maintain a collegiate environment with the team, sharing knowledge and constantly seeking to foster and improve people and technology
  • Drive service delivery within the region and collaborating with the global team to constantly improve that process

Technical

  • Deploy, maintain, monitor, and upgrade production deployments of ARIC Risk Hub SaaS
  • Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications
  • Periodically test the service with predictable and unpredictable failures
  • Provide 2nd-line operational support for our SaaS customers
  • Gather data and generating reports on the service performance
  • Develop and document internal processes
  • Work with engineering/data science to drive and develop new and improved ARIC Risk Hub capabilities

About you

Must haves: 

  • Leadership experience of an engineering or operational team
  • Willingness to share expertise to help grow the people around you
  • Ability to understand complex systems quickly, reason about them, and explain them simply to other people
  • Ability to lead system architecture/design discussions from an engineering, operational and business impact perspective
  • Strong problem solving skills, with a passion to deliver high quality results and motivate others to do the same
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise personal and team workloads
  • Expertise in cloud technology (preferably in AWS)
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience programming in one or more high-level programming languages (E.g. Python)

Great to haves:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or higher qualification in computer science, engineering or related discipline
  • Experience managing geographically distributed or remote teams
  • Naturally curious, innovative and enthusiastic with a capability to think orthogonally
  • Passion to learn new skills and technologies and keep up to date with industry best practices and new developments
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Experience with containerisation (E.g. Docker)
  • Experience with orchestration (E.g. Kubernetes)
  • Networking expertise (E.g. DNS, routing, firewalls)
  • Experience using object orientated design and programming
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (preferably with Terraform)
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience operating production services
  • Experience with source control, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, alerting and reporting
  • Experience with platform engineering
  • Experience with compliance standards (E.g. PCI-DSS, SOC2 or ISO27001:2013)
  • Ability to read, write and speak Spanish
