Senior Performance Test Engineer

The Opportunity

As a Senior Performance Test Engineer you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by:

  • Being responsible for the non-functional aspects of our pioneering real-time machine learning platform which underpins our cutting-edge ARIC engine

This is a hybrid role based in our Cambridge office, so you will ideally be comfortable coming into the office at least twice a week. If you’re interested in the role but require more flexibility, please speak to us! 

Day to Day

  • Conduct system non-functional testing to ensure system reliability, capacity and scalability
  • Analyse and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks
  • Provide team-level status updates and responsibility for team deliverables
  • Assist in team-level prioritisation and scheduling of work
  • Review and develop performance test plans and cases with other the team members
  • Acting as a point of contact for the team within the wider Featurespace organisation
  • Maintain and expand the fully in-house automated performance testing framework
  • Write and present executive summaries of testing work for management review
  • Involvement in the process of interviewing and recruiting new team members
  • Championing process and best practices within the team

About you

Must haves:

  • A deep understanding of the non-functional test project lifecycle and deliverables
  • A determined approach to exploring performance bottlenecks and uncovering root causes
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, underlying hardware, and its performance constraints
  • Experience with common and specialist tools used for performance diagnostics
  • Experience testing and optimising performance of a low latency, multi-tier, distributed real-time systems

Great to haves:

  • Prior experience of team workload management and/or line management
  • Experience with technologies like MongoDB, Kubernetes, Kafka, SQL and Elasticsearch
