Senior Platform Security Engineer

The Opportunity

As our Senior Platform Security Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security and resilience of our organisation’s core infrastructure and platforms. You will possess a deep technical understanding of platform security, a proactive mindset, and a passion for identifying and mitigating security risks across our technology landscape. You will be responsible for developing and implementing security measures that protect our systems, data, and operations, which enable us to achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers.  

This role can be based remotely across the UK, however living within commutable distance to our Cambridge office is a definite plus! If you’re based remotely, you will ideally be happy to travel to our Cambridge office several times throughout the year.

Day to Day

  • Actively lead, participate in, and self-manage security projects across multiple infosec domains
  • Design, architect, implement, and enhance security architectures and controls
  • Develop and maintain access controls, authentication mechanisms, and PAM strategies
  • Develop and implement strategies to keep platforms healthy, hardened, and compliant
  • Develop and leverage automation tools and scripts to streamline security processes
  • Manage the day-to-day health and compliance of security systems and managed solutions
  • Proactively adjust security measures to defend against emerging threats and evolving risks
  • Assist the SOC in response efforts to mitigate and recover from security incidents
  • Respond to and handle service and escalation tickets
  • Assist as needed (including outside working hours) with IR and system stability issues

About you

Must haves:

  • Proven experience as a Platform Security Engineer or in a similar cybersecurity role
  • Well versed in security compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements, as well as in security incident response, forensics, and root cause analysis
  • An excellent problem-solver, communicator, and collaborator
  • Self-motivated to succeed individually and within a team atmosphere
  • A proven history of critical thinking, thinking outside the box, and delivering results
  • Demonstrable expert knowledge of IT systems, IT architectures, and network security and design
  • In-depth experience administering SIEM, IPS, PKI, IAM, XDR, CNAPP, and firewalls
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform)

Great to haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field
  • InfoSec certifications such as N+, S+, GIAC, CISSP, CISM, or CISA
  • ISO27001, PCI DSS, or SOC 2 compliance knowledge
  • Knowledge of the Mitre ATT&CK framework
  • Understanding of the ITIL standards and best practice
  • Awareness of secure app development and OWASP Top 10
