At Featurespace, our mission has always been to make the world a safer place to transact. That commitment underpins how we design, develop, and deploy artificial intelligence across fraud and financial crime detection.
From the earliest days of Adaptive Behavioral Analytics to today’s deep learning innovations, our focus has been on building AI models that support our consumers in detecting fraud and enabling more trust in the financial system. This means prioritizing accuracy, explainability, and real‑time performance, so that advanced machine learning can deliver practical value for financial institutions and the people they serve.
Our approach recognizes that effective fraud detection is not just about stopping crime, but about helping to enable safe, more seamless payment experiences. By helping institutions identify risk earlier and with greater confidence, we support better decisions that help reduce losses while minimizing unnecessary friction for genuine customers.
This commitment — to more responsible, impactful AI that performs in production — is central to what we do, and it is reflected in the industry recognition we are proud to share.
None of this would be possible without the trust, ambition and innovative spirit of our customers. Their willingness to partner closely with us, embrace new approaches, and put advanced AI into production is what turns innovation into measurable real-world impact. We’re proud to work alongside organizations that share our commitment to stopping fraud, protecting consumers and creating safer, smoother payment experiences.
Recognizing NatWest's AI-native fraud detection through real-world impact
Recognition across multiple awards reflects NatWest’s approach to deploying AI‑native fraud detection at scale. By replacing its existing fraud risk score and transaction monitoring platform with The Featurespace Platform in 2025, NatWest has delivered measurable improvements across both fraud performance and customer experience.
Since implementation, the bank has achieved measurable improvements, including1:
- A +3% improvement in fraud account detection rate (ADR)
- Detection of cards being added to file and wallet enrollments for the first time, reducing the number of customers experiencing fraud losses by around 3,000 per month
- A reduction in false positives from 11:1 to 8:1 on average, with a strategy of 3.7:1
- Earlier fraud detection, reducing the average number of fraudulent transactions per case from three to two
- An improved Net Promoter Score (NPS) of above 70% positive
These outcomes demonstrate how advanced AI can strengthen fraud detection while also improving customer experience by reducing unnecessary declines and friction.
At the core of this impact is ADBN, a deep learning model designed specifically for the payments and fraud landscape. Built on an advanced recurrent neural network (RNN) architecture combined with stateful deep learning, ADBN learns directly from the sequence and timing of customer behavior. Unlike traditional models that rely on manually engineered features, it autonomously generates its own features, enabling stronger detection performance, earlier intervention, and greater confidence in real‑time decisions.
Bank of Ireland’s fraud transformation journey recognized across 2 awards
Bank of Ireland delivered a measurable fraud-risk transformation using the Featurespace Platform. Introduced in 2023–2024 to replace a legacy in-house fraud detection tool, the platform enabled real-time monitoring and advanced rule logic. In 2025, the bank moved beyond fraud detection by deploying Fraud Payment Interruption and one-time passcode (OTP) integration, empowering fraud-type-specific interventions and instant payment denial, helping to increase readiness for SEPA Instant.
As a result, Bank of Ireland repositioned its fraud operations from reactive to proactive, establishing itself as a leader in fraud innovation. This transformation delivered clear, measurable outcomes, underpinned by a significant uplift in fraud detection before payment following the launch of SEPA Instant2:
- 30% fewer attempted frauds.
- 25% reduction in customer losses during 2025 compared with 2024.
- The immediate impact of a 59% reduction in fraud losses, with the level of losses maintained in 2025.
- $2M in customer balances protected in the first 40 days of using Fraud Payment Interruption.
Celebrating Central 1’s achievements in providing 250+ Canadian financial institutions with real-time fraud protection across payment types and channels
Central 1 has been recognized for its leadership in delivering real‑time fraud detection across a network of more than 250 financial institutions. To support this initiative, Central 1 implemented The Featurespace Platform, bringing AI-driven fraud detection capabilities to help protect more than eight million consumers across credit unions and other financial institutions.
Following its launch in April 2023, the initiative met its initial objectives within the first month. Central 1 increased fraud capture rates from a baseline of approximately 30% to more than 40%, while maintaining a false positive ratio below 10:1.3 These results highlight how Central 1 has enhanced fraud detection across its network while preserving a seamless experience for legitimate customers.
During July–October 2025, Central 1 achieved:
- 79% fraud capture volume – a 51% uplift over the 28% industry benchmark.
- 67% fraud capture value, while maintaining a 2:1 false positive ratio.13
Central 1’s leadership in this initiative exemplifies foresight and collaboration. By anticipating future needs and acting decisively, Central 1 safeguards credit unions and their members from increasingly sophisticated fraud attempts and positions them for more success in a real-time payments environment.
Celebrating shared success across the industry
These award wins recognize the progress being made by financial institutions that are embracing AI to strengthen fraud detection and improve customer outcomes. They also reflect the power of collaboration between organizations committed to turning innovation into measurable, real-world impact. Alongside these achievements, Featurespace has also been shortlisted for the Banking Tech of the Year category at the Asia FinTech Awards, recognizing continued innovation in AI-native fraud detection. As fraud continues to evolve, Featurespace remains committed to working alongside financial institutions to help them stay ahead of emerging threats, protect consumers, and deliver safer, smoother payment experiences. Commenting on the recognition, Jason Blackhurst, Global Head of Featurespace and Acceptance Risk Solutions at Visa, said:
"These awards reflect the hard work, ambition, and commitment of the financial institutions and teams leading the way in fraud prevention. The most meaningful innovations are developed in partnership, combining deep industry expertise with advanced AI to deliver practical outcomes in production. It is this collaboration that helps fraud teams respond more effectively to evolving threats while protecting customers and supporting better payment experiences."
