Senior Software Engineer

The Opportunity

As a Senior Software Engineer you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by: 

  • Developing services and infrastructure for our global, multi-tenant SaaS platform 
  • Cooperating with engineers working across the product to deliver new, cross-cutting functionality and to maintain and update existing systems 
  • Working with internal stakeholders to understand and specify product requirements 
  • Working with and becoming knowledgeable about cloud infrastructure and managed cloud services 
  • Writing and monitoring automated tests to ensure the correct functionality of systems owned by your team 

This is a hybrid role based from our Atlanta office. Ideally you will be comfortable coming into the office 2 – 3 times a week, if you’re interested in the role but require more flexibility, please speak to us!

Day to Day

  • Deliver or design new features in accordance with good architectural practices and informed by an up-to-date knowledge of the industry 
  • Take a technical lead position in project work, investigations and feasibility studies 
  • Be aware of how the team’s work fits within the company’s technical objectives 
  • Share responsibility for the effectiveness of engineering operations within the team; monitor and advocate for good engineering practices amongst team members 
  • Ability to lead development of cross-functional features with wide impact across various stakeholders 
  • Act as a point of contact for other teams 
  • Conduct interviews and assist with the onboarding of new recruits who join the team 
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of the team’s areas of responsibility and its contracts with other teams 
  • Participate in an on-call rota to support the production services owned by your team (including out-of-hours support where required)

About you

Must haves:

  • Demonstrable experience working as a software engineer or in a similar position
  • Working knowledge of Typescript and/or Javascript
  • Experience working with modern IDEs, source control and continuous integration systems 
  • Comfortable working with large codebases 
  • Comfortable learning and working with multiple programming languages 
  • Strong experience of common automated testing practices

Great to haves:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Kubernetes
  • Experience of relational and/or NoSQL databases for production workloads 
  • Knowledge of common large-scale data processing and storage technologies 
  • Experience with RESTful (or other) API design 
  • Message queueing systems 
  • Experience with NoSQL query design
